How to Take Better Nature Photos
If you are like most RVers, you like to go to new places and see new sights. From parks and rivers to the pretty flowers blooming on the grounds of your favorite Quality RV Resort, Texas is loaded with beautiful scenes that could make memorable photos. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to capture those stunning views with your little cell phone camera? Here are a few tips to help you capture those nature photos.
Taking Better Nature Photos
-
The Golden Hour
Natural lighting is best for taking nature photos, and the very best time of all is just after sunrise and just before sunset when the sun is low in the sky. This early morning and early evening time is nicknamed ‘the golden hour’ because of the warm hues that sunrise and sunset impart to your photos.

Focus on the Foreground
You may be in awe of the power of the sea when you look out over the Gulf of Mexico, but if you just take pictures of the horizon, you’ll have some boring nature photos. Instead, crouch down and focus on the sea grass growing on the dunes or the shells littering the beach. Let the vast expanse of water be the background. That will tell your tale of the ocean’s might even better.

Rule of Thirds
The rule of thirds is a composition technique that helps a photographer position points of interest along an invisible grid. Your camera may already have a grid feature. If so, use it. If not, imagine a tic-tac-toe grid on the viewfinder of your camera. Rather than placing your subject in the center square, change your angle a little until the subject is where the grid lines cross each other. This is an easy way to create visually interesting nature photos.
